[ACTIVE] The Battle For Half-Bay

Just in case anyone is interested in what we're up to on the D&D 4E table, here is it...

Twinlans was once spilt into 2 distinct ‘kingdoms’.

Westlands – Then known as Farligh. This was the land west of the Grey Mountains, it was an uneasy truce between the dwarfs in the north and the Grey Mountains and the elf kingdoms in the forests of the south.

Eastlands – Then known as Burhah, this is was the large Human civilisation east of the Grey Mountains, it grew rich in on the wide pastures above the Broken Shore but suffered heavily from piracy from roving ships along its shore.

Karresh is the desert area at the south of Twinlans, it is a unforgiving land and its people even more so. They have refused all attempts at unification but seem open to trade. They are masters of guerilla warfare, entire armies have been lost in the wastes of the sand.

To the north, above the Frey Woods and the Grey Mountains, the Frozenlands are the realm of the Wildes, a tribal culture of warriors. The closest thing they have to a city is Bladvarn but it closer resembles a giant market. There is no central leadership or control, merely hundreds of tribes vying for scant resources. They have no interest in trade with south, preferring to raid to fill their requirements. The border between the two land is in constant war, with sorties to both sides being a daily occurrence.

The lands were unified under one banner about 40 years ago, the Human armies sweeping across the Cthak sea and up into Farligh. They assimilated the Elven cities into their own with ease, the dwarves were a much harder fight.

These days, Twinlans is a loose collection of fiefdoms, with local Lords ruling their cities and areas, all under the control of The Lowlans Queen, her throne in Freyacre.

Half-Bay is a moderate-sized city in the east of Twinlans, sitting on the edge of The Cthak Sea. It is a busy trading port, handling the flow of goods from the Eastern Plains across the seas, as well as the import of goods from far flung lands. It is also the embarkation point for all soldiers heading to Farkeep.

In theory it is ruled over by Archmage Thindarius, but as he has aged his interest has shifted to women and food. These days most city business is conducted by a series of councils and committees.

It is built in the ruins of the city of Cthak, an ancient city long abandoned.

The Cthak Sea is a large area of island in the centre of Twinlans. Whilst nominally in the control of The Lowlans Queen, they are mostly ruled by a series of pirate kings and queens, each ‘owning’ a series of islands, raiding the mainland and each others for supplies. It is a mostly lawless land, with only a few safe routes through.

Farkeep is the only offical city in the Cthak sea, placed at the entrance to secure the oversea trade routes, to keep the pirates contained.

I'll add more as I get time...
